Now, I know what you’re all thinking: “Our music blogger needs a psychiatrist.” I DON’T. Honestly, this show is amazing. Yo Gabba Gabba! is a show for little kids to help them appreciate music more. I don’t know if it works on my two-year old sister…but it sure works for me. The music on this show is surprisingly GREAT! Everything is  composed by Mark Mothersbaugh. He did the music for Rugrats and Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist. He was also the co-founder of Devo.

Several popular and indie artists have been featured on The Super Music Friends Show segment. Some of these people include The Aggrolites, Biz Markie, Shiny Toy Guns, Supernova, The Postmarks, Trembling Blue Stars, Sugarland, The Roots, Low, The Salteens, Sean Kingston, Jack Black, The Aquabats, Enon, The Clientele, Joy Zipper, Of Montreal, Mates of State, The Ting Tings, and MGMT.

Yo Gabba Gabba! usually has really cool animations to go with songs that they have artists write for the show. Some of these songs make me unsure that it’s a children’s show though! Their host, DJ Lance is really energetic and entertaining. He often accompanies a music artist in dancing or singing…and sometimes bursts into songs that he made up himself.

Whether you’re young, old, or a dorky teenager (cough, cough) this show is bound to make you dance, sing, or AT LEAST tap your feet. I recommend watching this show if you’re into discovering new bands.

Here are a few links to some of the best songs that have been featured on You Gabba Gabba! Enjoy!

(P.S) Happy Hanukkah!
